Week 16 of 20 Training and Fundraising Update

The countdown is well and truly on now, less than 5 weeks and we will be rolling out from Adelaide heading for Melbourne. Once again it’s starting to get exciting, although there is a lot to do between now and start of tour.

Fundraising is getting interesting, lots of activity happening, at times it’s been hard to keep track of everything that is going on, but all good, the dollars raised make it all worthwhile. Last week I presented to one of the construction sites of the company that did a major development for us at the Uni, ISIS. No not that ISIS, these guys have been around for 30 plus years and have done some great construction jobs across the country. On Friday I joined their crew at the MLC Centre for a quick discussion about TDC over morning tea. Final figures are not in yet but over $3,000 was raised, and the great part is ISIS will be matching every dollar raised, so for that one site we have raised over $6,000.

I have another site to do this week at UTS, how ironic, where we hope to raise a similar amount. I will include some photos in next week’s blog.

So my current tally is at $34,964 but with deposits and commitments to come in the next week I will be closer to $55,000 which will tick off another target for 2015 which was to beat my last year’s tally of $50,600.

This week should also see the start of my Vittoria campaign with emails going out to approximately 230,000 of their suppliers and customers. The end goal is still a possibility 🙂 🙂

Training this week has been back to normal after a week of recovery from 3Peaks. Despite the rain this morning cutting our ride short a by about 20kms I still managed 386km. The week of recovery did its job, this past few days the legs have felt quite strong while on the bike, although as I write this they could do with a rest and some stretching, they are a bit tired.

On a sad note we learned this week that a family member may have a recurrence of cancer that will be tested in coming weeks. Fingers crossed that everything is ok.

Till next week, have a great week and don’t forget to share the message to donate, every dollar counts.

Cheers, Woody
