We’re now down to days…19 to go

Another busy week, which has again impacted my training, but the good news is I still managed to get some very solid hills training done on Saturday and back it up with a good hit out this morning off 4 hours sleep.

I recall around this time leading up to my first tour two years ago mentioning that I had not missed a training session in the 20 week build up. I can’t say the same this time around, life has got a little busier as I build a new business in my spare time.

The good news is that with plenty of training in the legs pre Christmas the missed sessions shouldn’t have too much of an impact, I feel ready even with a couple more weeks to round out the preparation.

The great news this week has been on the fundraising front. A massive thank you to Urbanest (student accommodation) who will be hosting our opening night dinner in Brisbane after contributing $10,000 and Marrickville Freezers Foodservice who have come on for a Bronze partnership at $2,500.

And a massive shout out to Nuri at Uni Brothers who for the third year in a row has taken a Bronze package, also at $2,500. Nuri has been an incredible champion of my fundraising under considerably difficult personal circumstances. Last year I rode for his wife who is having a very difficult time with cancer of the brain, and again this year she will be in my thoughts. Nuri you are from the top shelf buddy.

So that brings my tally when all funds are deposited this week up to $62,000, which again blows me away. There are more opportunities to come, but for now I am extremely grateful to all that have contributed to this great cause. Thank you.

Nutrition has been great this week and the results are reflected in the numbers. Fair to say I am very happy with the progress this week.

This week will be about more fundraising. I’m looking forward to presenting to the staff of Shape on Tuesday to talk about the tour and share some stories, and to keep raising awareness among as many people as possible to drag in some more donations.

Training this week moves into hardest week which means lots of efforts and topped off with a 6 hour test at the end of the week, ouch.

Till next time, have a great week.

Cheers, Woody
