It’s getting serious now… 12 days to go

Another week has flown by, and some more hurdles thrown up to challenge the preparation.

BUT

At the end of the week the cold hard reality of why we do this hit home.

For those who followed the TDC story last year you will recall Shelli Whitehurst.

Well this week she has had some difficulty breathing and requires some more surgery to help her breathe more effectively.

I spent 6 hours riding solo on Saturday and at times it was tough. But each time I felt myself drifting into thoughts of pain or complaint, I thought of Shelli. Someone who never complains and constantly endures, no matter what she is going through.

So on Saturday, Shelli gave me strength and further confirmation of the WHY when it comes to TDC. Every dollar raised is so important and I will be working hard over the next few weeks to spread the word and raise as much as possible.

This was the first major climb of Saturday’s ride at the top of Mt Keira,

and the second one at the top of Bald Hill at Stanwell Tops, a stunning day for riding.

This week I also had the pleasure of presenting the TDC story to the staff at Shape. Shape are a construction company that have a long history of supporting charitable causes. This is the third year they have donated to me and this year, after having a company name change, they will be proudly promoted on the TDC team musette.

With the addition of Shape’s donation, my tally has climbed to a tick over $62,500.

There are some more opportunities to pursue which have me hopeful of getting above $70,000 by tour time. It would be awesome to get to last year’s total of $77,500.

The next week and a half will be about staying healthy. A bit of a cold at the end of the week hasn’t quite passed but doesn’t seem to be turning nasty. So I will be avoiding anybody that may be showing signs of sickness, don’t be offended if that means you J

The majority of the hard training is now done, so the next 10 days will be maintenance and a few efforts just to keep things interesting.

If you have a WHY related to cancer and want to do something to be part of finding a cure, donate today, every dollar counts and is making a difference.

TDC has now raised over $23 million, and been a part of 18 cancer breakthroughs.  So in this 10th anniversary year let’s do as much as possible to smash the fund raising goals and get another step closer to a cure.

Till next time, have a great week.

Cheers, Woody
