Tour De Cure only two weeks to go!

Back in August when I put in an application to join the Tour de Cure Signature ride, it all seemed a long way off.  I was thrilled to be selected to join this group of amazing people who for the past seven years have done such an incredible job of raising awareness and funds for cancer research, support and prevention.

Now with just two weeks to go before we set off to pedal all the way from Sydney to Hobart, it’s all becoming a bit too real.  Have I done enough training?  Will I be able to keep up, can I ride day after day for ten days straight?  I have done a lot of cycling over the past few months, getting out pre-dawn, climbing as many hills as I can around Sydney’s north shore as well as a couple of trips to the snowy mountains and the Victorian Alps. I hope this will equip me with the physical and mental strength to go the distance.

I just feel so fortunate to be healthy enough to even contemplate this journey which is nothing compared to my friends and relatives who have been on the cancer road, some have reached the end far too soon, others are still on the rocky patches, the lucky ones seem to be on smoother terrain, I hope, for the long term.

In committing to the Tour de Cure Signature event I also committed to raising $12,000 which I wasn’t sure I would be capable of, but with the overwhelming support of my family, colleagues, friends, neighbours and my employer, Cover-More, I have now exceeded the initial goal. I now hope that I can raise $15,000 or maybe more…  If you would like to support me on this journey please click here to make a tax deductible donation.  Don’t forget to leave me a message to encourage me along the road.
