TDC Day 1 – Sydney to Bundanoon – a wet 162 km’s

Up at 5 am after a disturbed sleep but happy to see the rain had stopped, so off at 5.30 for the start rendezvous at Martin Place for the Sunrise cross at our 8 am start time.

Lorna and Morgan joined as did many other family members for the Sunrise broadcasted start – just as the rain started. What followed was 160 km’s of much traffic, challenging roads and ultimately cold bodies.

So a tough first day it was, though positively boosted by the sight of so many happy kids at Colo Vale Primary where we ran a play that highlights the Be Healthy, Be Fit, Be Happy message – the kids gave us a great reception and my team Woolworths enjoyed the opportunity to share the message.

Our community dinner in Bundadoon featured a presentation from Dr John Rasko on advances his team is making in Cancer research with the support of Tour de Cure donations.

A long sometimes difficult day though one that reminds us that out Tour is more than a bike ride and one that is galvanising the community and our riders.
