Thursday is group training day
Thursday is training day with the TDC so very early start and if I’m honest I really wasn’t feeling it but I really need the practice riding in peleton so it wasn’t an option not to go. Plus I had to ride to my bike fitting appointment anyway so it made sense. So the group got split into 2, one group was to go out to LaPa (La Perouse for those not down with the cycling lingo) and the other to do laps in Centenntial Park. Every ounce of my being said “stay in the park” but the competitive side came out and I decided to go out and get the experience. Well it was definihtely the fastest I’ve riden with a group but Veria (a fellow newbie) and I tried to hold on at the back and we both struggled, even Vera with her super strong legs and unfortunately I got chopped at the lights on the way back and we weren’t able to make up the time. All in all, great experience and I learnt lots; the importance of riding behind someone who is good at keeping the line and I think it would do me good to ride next to someone who is more experienced than I (wouldn’t take a lot) to get some pointers.
Next it’s off to get ‘fitted’ to my new bike at Athlete Lab by Tom. He uses ‘Retul’ technology (link to Retul) and while I have no idea really what that is, he is highly recommended by JA, aka Julie Anne from the Veleroos known by us mere mortals as the machine. So long story short, my bike has now been adjusted but I need to settle into it for a week or 2 to adjust as I’ll still have some residule pain. Anyway big thanks to Tom, he gave me lots of tips and has promised to continue to answer any questions that I may have….. he may regret to have offered that!!!
