About Me

I’m a 40 something English gal who is sometimes quite fit and other times not so much, it kinda depends on weather, how many birthday’s are on, what holidays I have planned, the time of the year and also what is my latest hobby/challenge.

So I like to think I’m a ‘glass half full’ type of gal, if I’m honest, while in 2016 I was lucky enough to have some amazing experiences which I’ve loved such as Glastonbury, amazing holidays such as Japan snow and Bali, it wasn’t the nicest year for a few reasons such as getting Dengue Fever while in Bali which knocked me around for about 6 months but the main reason was that in July one of my dearest friends lost her battle to that dreaded disease Cancer which seemed to be the cruelest reward after going through chemo and radiotherapy and even being given the all clear!   She is far from being alone in my friends and family who have battled the disease, some triumphant in their victory (for now) and others sadly not.

When I saw that Westpac was doing Tour 200 which is our own Tour De Cure to support our Bicentennial I knew I had found a humdinger of a challenge because it’s 300Km across 3 days!!

To put this into context, while I am “sometimes quite or not so quite fit”, I was somewhere in the middle but the biggest issue was that I don’t think I’ve actually ridden a bike since I was about 12 years old, maybe younger as I don’t remember getting an upgrade of a bike since the one I was bought on my 10th Christmas Day.

I did use to go to spin a few years ago which I think is helping a bit and I ride a scooter which has 2 wheels so it’s similar right……???

Anyway my blog ‘Along the Way’ is to document my trials and tribulations of essentially learning how to ride a bike and ride it a very long way with a few extra bits and pieces thrown in based on my observations throughout the ride.

It will also give a shout out to the people and business’s that are helping me along the way.
