5 more sleeps…

Only 5 more sleeps until the Tour de Cure team rolls out of Martin Place, Sydney on this epic journey. All the training is done, now to rest, eat lots and avoid any illness.

I have to say that a corporate team building day today playing beach volleyball with 5 times Olympian and gold medalist Natalie Cook has worked muscles that I am sure have been dormant for years. Could be a little sore tomorrow but my pre tour massage should sort out any niggles.

Natalie was an excellent host and shared some insightful thoughts on what’s helped her maintain motivation throughout 20 years of playing experiences. Her view was when things are not going well you sometimes need to step back and look more broadly at your own complex tapestry of life…and you will realise that there is a LOT more positive stuff going on than not. So focus on the positives, treat yourself well, and things will work themselves out more often than not. You know what…she’s spot on. A perspective I’ll remember when the going gets tough on tour and beyond. Good timing to have another injection of motivation like this before heading off.

I won a ball (I like the fact by coincidence it is in our Tour de Cure colours), and got some good tips!
