Fundraising plans to bed in

Whilst am happy with the progress of my training, other preparations in regards to travel and especially fundraising need a good kick in the pants.

My procrastination on travel bookings may prove to be a bit of a downfall, as the special flight deals appear to have largely dried up and airfares will be a bit more than anticipated to get me

a) To Sydney

B) Home from Hobart

Additionally I would love to have my family share in the experience and be there for support, so at a minimum I need to arrange to have them flown to Hobart and back towards the end of the Tour.  More ideally I’d like Yvonne to come along on Tour and share in the contribution to a great cause, however this would require additional fundraising of $2500 on top of my minimum of $12000, so for now need to plan to get to my fundraising goal, or I am going to have a rather large unexpected debt to pay 🙂

With the excellent support of my family in Hobart I have a great opportunity happening down there next week, which I hope will breathe much needed dollars into the kitty.  My sister Jane has taken on the task of organising a movie night at the Uni theatre, ticket sales will cover the copyright liability and through our collective contacts have organised insurance and venue hire for free.  She will run a raffle with some great prizes as well.   I am hopeful the event will raise $1500 or so, and am grateful for the amount of work she is putting in to make it happen

To Supplement this, with the help of Peta Behm, I am organising a fundraiser dinner in Brisbane on the 13th March at Tiramisu  Restaurant 283 Given Terrace Paddington.

I am hopeful to get at least 50 people to come along for a great 3 course dinner and night of fun filled activity.  I will also run a raffle and have a couple of short videos on the big screen to communicate to all patrons why we are doing this and where the money goes.

This event I am hopeful to raise $2000 from all the activities and am confident anyone attending will get a great nights experience and meal for their money.

My parents have been great also and are spruiking the event of Tour de Cure to anyone who will listen and are drumming up interest in the local media and we hope to run a couple of small pieces in newspapers in tassie (pic below for that purpose).  Hopefully the extra exposure will provide assistance and interest in people willing to support and donate.

With the above plans and the ongoing trickle from BBQ’s, chocolates, and personal donations it is going to be very tight.  It would be great to snag a corporate partner – for which I have numerous requests all around Brisbane and Hobart asking for help.
