Tour de Cure

Well hi everyone,

Well the last thing I thought I’d ever be doing is writing a blog but I can’t think of a better reasons than promoting Tour de Cure to write one.  So here we go!

The Tour de Cure organisation could not be changing lives without your support so a HUGE thank you for all your donations and kind words of encouragement.

In 2 weeks time I’ll be riding the 2 day Victorian Guest leg of this year’s Signature Tour. To refresh all your memories, I’ll be riding from Mansfield to Eildon on April 2nd and then the next day from Eildon to Port Melbourne.  I cannot believe the time is almost upon us!

Over the past 5 to 6 months I’ve been training hard and consequently losing weight.  I still have more weight to lose but I’m getting there.  Back in November I purchased a new bike, which I love.  For those of you into cycling it’s a Specialized Roubaix S-Works SL4 Red HRR.  I had a small stack back in the middle of January and my initial fear was that I’d scratched my bike!  Thankfully I didn’t but I did so some ligament damage to my knee which set back my training somewhat.

I’ve really been enjoying being back on the bike.  I either train by myself or out in a bunch.  As you may or may not know, Bendigo has a huge cycling following so there’s always a bunch to get on the back of.  It’s been great catching up with some old acquaintances and also meeting some new people along the way.  The track season has finished now but I had been helping out with training some of the young kids on a Sunday morning at the track (what a fantastic job Noel Sens does leading this program).  The track season will start back up in October so I’m looking forward to being involved with the Bendigo Cycling Club again.  I have a sponsorship board up at the Tom Flood Sports Centre in Bendigo.  This board promotes Tour de Cure, so if you’re going past that way drive in and check it out.

Team ‘Rob Burns’ (on behalf of TdC) which you’re all part of has currently raised $4,670 which is fantastic.  I intend on writing another blog while on tour and also afterwards to keep you all in the loop in both my fundraising efforts and physical condition.  So until then take care and keep on enjoying a healthy and active life.

Regards,

Rob Burns
