Calga in the rain!
Ride Saturday 02/03/13
After the wash out of the w/e before there was no way I was missing this ride, for the all important KMs
We didn’t get to Calga as planned because of an F3 traffic diversion straight up Old Pacific Hwy, bikes & angry drivers stuck in slow traffic not a good mix. So back to Bobbin head it was for some hill repeats. It rained nearly all the way I might add so when we arrived at Turramurra café for a bacon & egg roll & the much needed coffee, the blankets they provided were greatly appreciated. Back to Neutral Bay with 110kms clocked up.
Ride Sunday 03/03/13
Turned up for a repeat of Saturday but there were only 7 of us & lots of rain north of Artarmon.
Options were:
Calga with guaranteed rain…ground hog day Waterfall negotiating
Waterfall negotiating glass on Oxford St post Mardi Gras….no thanks.
Relatively dry Mosman Alps…we went for the Alps…I can now say I’ve done David Rd, Mandolong & the famous Awaba, 54km of the suckers & their friends. Grades never meant much to me, there do now. I found out there’s a lot at 12% around Mosman up to 19% on the top of Awaba. A well earned coffee at the end.
Total: 312km week
