Day 7 Benalla to Albury 140km

Day 7 Benalla to Albury – my toughest day, my body was so tired.

Highlights for the day were unquestionably the 2 school visits to St Trinians and St Barnards. Our visiting pelotons were quite simply treated like rock stars with autographs and pictures aplenty. Fabulous. We did the first school presentation and to say the kids went off would be an understatement. I do believe that these presentations do deliver great messages in terms of health and fitness.

Into Albury at 4pm, we finished the day with a series of Optus events. We spent a couple of hours promoting the local Optus store, including some live radio on tour de cure and new mobile phone apps before hosting a fund raising dinner and auction. $10,000 later and the tally ticks on.

These were the 3 days that we all knew we would have to grind out. It’s now 3 days to go but these are the days that we will climb over the snowy mountains. I’m hopeful for much fresher legs tomorrow.  The temperatures will drop to freezing and we have some of the steepest terrain in Australia to get through. There is a wave of nerves sweeping through the whole group this evening because we don’t know how tough it will be and how much energy we have left. In 12 hours time, we will all definitely find out.
