20 sleeps to go and off to Forster for the w/e

Saturday

Club Champs triathlon, a brilliant day in a beautiful place with a fabulous team!  A few special moments as I came across different people I’d met over the years on the course. Triathlons an interesting sport there are so many things that can change your race, even when you think you ‘re just going to give it a go & have a good time, it’s a race the moment the gun goes off. Our club NSTC (Northern Suburbs Triathlon Club) or The Vegemites won 2nd division (division defined by size of club) Another proud moment.

Sunday dinner with Daniel Staunton, my friend from last years tour who usually lives on Magnetic Is & has been visiting Sydney. Daniel lives with a brain tumour & is a reminder to me of our capacity to give. For all the challenges he has after years of treatment, he is always thinking about what he can do to help others. His focus right now is assisting with a school in Vanuatu where he visits each year with his family & takes supplies for the students & teacher. The simple things like pencils & paper means so much to these people & the experience only enriches the life of Daniel & his family. I’m drinking a Squarange, Danielles favourite, before carbonated drinks were identified as a trigger for his epilepsy, a side effect from chemo. He’s found a new favourite drink though, the red version with a fancy name I can’t remember.
