And we’re off day 1 and day 2

Adelaide to Victor harbor today & what a send off not only riding with the fine TDC crew from all around Australia but accompanied by Anna Meares, Matt Walsh, Jonathon Webb & Sebastian Terry. Blue sky’s made for a perfect ride day in the peloton. Willunga Hill KOM. On arrival to Victor Harbor we were greeted by excited Camp Quality kids who had been waiting for us to get there & join in their fun, the highlight for them receiving fabulous bags of Optus goodies really put a smile on their faces. The highlight for me was special time with Robin & Alex. Alex has been in remission for 2 years & is 11 yrs old. A stuffed giraffe was all it took to make her day sharing some time with her made mine.

Seb Terry was the speaker for the evening, awesome. 100km
Victor Harbor to Menangie 150km
Beautiful sunrise to send us off, & a full moon. Flat & winds all the way. Finding a big boy to break the wind was the only way I could stay on the road as we all held on for dear life. At one point we were eating fertilizer as a dust cloud travelled across the road. Wellington for lunch on the Murray River, before crossing on the ferry. Spirits were great in the peloton despite the wind.

Then 50km with me on the front being coached by Gary Bertwistle in the skill of keeping the ride smooth. Great experience. Fresh yabbies on arrival at Menangie with a protein drink chaser & a few stretches. The local community is hosting dinner tonight. Looking forward to that. Optus team rider Ian proudly wore the Doer jersey today, well deserved.
