About Me

Hi I have the great pleasure of joining Tour de Cure’s Signature Tour from Adelaide to Canberra this year.  This will be my 3rd Signature tour and I have also completed 2 country tours.IMG_2586

I joint Tour de Cure in 2011 as I wanted to support a worthwhile charity and give a little back, and we all know someone that has faced with Cancer head on.  I am very gratefull to a good friend of mine that introduced me to this charity, by the end of the first tour it was so much more than raising money for Cancer.  The experiences that you have, the people that touch your heart, the gut renching stories, inspiring people is only part of what Tour de Cure is about.

We visit schools along the way and spread the message about being fit, being healthy and being happy.  Ask anyone on tour what the highlight of tour is for them and hands down ‘Visiting the Schools’ will be No:1.  The kids love seeing the cyclist and we leave them with a special package which includes a book ‘Stickman Rules and What I wish I knew about Cancer’ that they can keep and be inspired to follow our message, and our dream is that they pass this onto their familys to live a happy, healthy and fit life.

On tour we also give away $5,000 to a local Cancer Charity and in the past this has been of far more value to those communities that $5,000.  For example one town we visited last year was going to train staff so that cancer suffers didn’t have to travel from north queensland to brisbane for treatment..

Cancer does not discriminate from Men, Women or children.  In 2011 the statistics were 1 in 2 males and 1 in 3 females then one year later the statistics are now 1 in 2 will be diagnosed with Cancer, with 1 in 3 cancers being preventable.

We all lead busy lives and sometimes we just don’t have the time to dedicate to such a worthwhile cause, but you can help through me, all you have to do is:

1. Click on the donate to me link on this blog or go to www.tourdecure.com.au and click on Donate now, then look for my name under the ‘Signature tour 2013’ link every little bit helps.

2. I will be entering a ‘Dawn to Dusk’ challenge which will be run post tour on the 19th May,  I will be looking for sponsors that can give me either a one off donation or donate according to how many laps/km’s I complete from ‘Dawn to Dusk’.  This will be run on a cycle track in Brisbane.  I will keep you posted on my blogs how you can support me.
