Blah Blah Blah!!!

Well I’ve been training, maybe not harder, maybe smarter, or do I need someone to tell me to just need face the truth that I need to harden up and hit it hard! That’s where I have found myself this month. So far  I have ticked off the the necessary assessment goals and now find that with only 47 days before the tour starts that I really need to punish my body for at least 35 or 40 of those days.

Is there any point smashing yourself 40 odd days out from a 1500km ride?? I thinks so, for two reasons, firstly I want to savour the ride, the destinations, the people and the scenery in between the start and finish towns each day. To be fit enough to enjoy every aspect of something like this is an important goal. I’ve never ridden this distance in such a short period of time and I’ve never ridden 230km in one day and I’ve certainly never ridden mountains like the ones we’ll encounter. This brings me to the second reason. I want to make it over the Snowy Mountain Range and into Canberra, I want to enjoy the climbs, (note; “enjoy” is a very loose term for the least amount of suffering possible on a bike ). they are some of the highest peaks in Oz and therefore the closest I’ll get to riding the highs of the famous peaks of the Tour De France. Blah Blah Blah!!…..

Anyone still awake??

Anyway what I’m trying to say is that I need to suffer and work hard now so that I can enjoy the real Tour De Cure experience come April 26th. Part of this is getting the message across and visiting Schools and helping spread the word amongst the local regional communities we visit in our travels. One of the big reasons I decided to ride was because the Tour donates money in the regional areas that we visit. Being a country boy this was important, the local facilities are often at the heart of the country community and for many reasons are extremely important!!!

Enough said, time to suffer some more…
