Training Update…t-minus 50 days

Hi all,

Wow – summer has flown by and i now find myself with 50 days to tour kick off!! I’ve been lazy with the blog…in typing. But it’s amazing how many times I’ve thought of it and published pages in my mind. Today i shall start putting pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard) and write down some of the things I’ve been up to and will be doing to get ready for the Tour De Cure. I promise…it won’t be such a wait between posts.

You’d be surprised to know that I’ve spent much of the last 2 months riding. In fact riding lots and lots and lots. My aim was to build a good base and log up a few ks. And that i managed to do. From late-December to the end of the January i managed clock up over 1800kms. My biggest ride was i little stroll down the Monaro Highway from home to Jindabyne…check this out..

Canberra to Jindy

So with all this riding (and much of it by myself) I’ve had plenty of time to think. And boy does the mind wander when you’ve got time on the bike.

I suppose much of my thoughts returned to ‘why?’. Why am i doing this? Why am i spending so much time hurting my legs, back and neck? Why am i spending so much time away from my family? Why?

Well the answer, like the question, also came to me on each and every ride…and it links into one question that i asked myself…and it scared me…

What would I do if I was told by a Doctor that one of my boys had cancer…

I know ‘Why’ I ride.
