Emotional School Visit

A visit this week to a school in Donvale really hammered home to me the emotional journey that comes with being involved with Tour de Cure.

Fellow TDC rider Dennis Gentilin organised for a few Melbourne based TDC members to be part of a visit to Carey Baptist Grammar School.

Making this event even more special was that Carey teacher Nathan Jones would be joining us for the ride and school assembly.

The father of three young girls is a courageous and inspiring man who is going through a tough battle with cancer.

He is clearly held in high regard by the school community and the emotions were running high when Nathan spoke to the packed school hall about the challenges he is facing.

A thank you email from Nathan showed just how much the day meant to him.

“Thanks so much for including me in today’s wonderful Assembly and the ride this morning. It has truly been a highlight of my life. To include me was such a privilege.”

It’s experiences like this that inspire me to continue my fundraising efforts as part of my Signature Tour ride next month.

Nathan is keeping a blog to document his journey and was happy for me to share it with you.
