Enter the bubble…..day 1 from Adelaide to Victor Harbour

I’ve been asking a lot of Tour veterans for advice for TDC virgins such as myself. Apart from don’t eat everything (the food is awesome) and you will do a fair bit of standing around (media crossings etc), the best one I’ve heard is the “bubble”.

The bubble is the Tour de Cure ecosystem or the environment that you enter on Tour. It’s full of laughter, tears, sadness, elation and calm. It’s probably all those emotions and more oh and you do some cycling. I took my first step into the bubble today and what a place. We started the day with a Sunrise crossing with Mark Beretta who is on tour with us. After a number of messages, we rolled out with Anna Meares and a police escort to the city fringes where we took in Adelaides finest. It was a short day today, only 100km with a 4km climb in the middle which was handy for blowing off some nervous energy. The rest of the ride was smooth and moderate and we rolled int o a beautiful afternoon in Victor Harbour and connected with the local community. Kids were out in force and we ensured they all went home with TDC tattoos.

Dinner tonight was exceptional with Seb and his 100 things before he dies. More on this tomorrow as well as the bubble…
