Anatomy of a ride

This morning was humid. And I mean HUMID. The mist/fog/sea spray (whatever you want to call it) at Collaroy was amazing.

Was up till about midnight last night, so the alarm going off was a bit of a shock. Here’s the layout for a mid week morning ride prior to work:

4.20am – alarm, wake up.
2 x pieces of Nutella toast, 1x glass of powerade, get dressed, check the radar (plus any other overnight news).
Get dressed, check money (for coffee and breakie), phone, shoes, lights and get out the door.
Mind you – this all has to be done quietly without waking anyone up. There’s nothing worse than 1 of the kids waking up before leaving – and once you’re on the other side of the door it’s not my responsibility………
4.50am – out the door. Lights on, Garmin on, click in and ride up to Maisys at Neutral Bay.
5am – order coffee, quick chat for a 5.10am departure.

Jumped on the front first up, and headed north to Warriewood. Decent pace this morning, and a good group of about 15 of us.

Couple of idiots on the road – yes, thinking of you the fool at Narabeen wanting to overtake on the inside and almost taking out half the peleton.

Coming back was 2nd up Parriwi – thought I had DK until he put in the last burst at the top. Pipped me by about 10 metres.

Quick breakkie back in Crows Nest, and home by 7.15am.

Solid 51k this morning, with an average speed just above 29km/h.

All setup for a good 140k+ on Sunday.
