It’s turning into a big week

So far in the past 5 days I’ve ridden 240k. Strength and fitness feeling great – and am actually enjoying the 4.15am wakeup (yes, call me crazy).

Considering the weather over the past week – this is a pretty awesome training effort. Saturday was disgusting – cold, windy and raining. Riding up to Brooklyn and return was challenging, it rained the whole way – torrential at times, and it was cold. To rack up a 110k training ride was a good effort – and the discussion on the bike was that we’d definitely earnt bragging rights for everyone else that stayed in bed.

I did get up on Sunday morning to ride. Went down to the Great Northern Hotel at Chatswood at just after 5.30am expecting to meet the group as they came past on the way north. It was raining (horizontal rain), and another cold disgusting day. As I watched the clock, I was saying to myself that as soon as it hits 6am I’m going home – needless to say I was glad to head home at 6am with no riders heading north (I think the decision at Maisys was a long breakkie…).

This weekend’s looking like a cracker. 200km+ on Saturday. It’ll be my longest ever ride, and is shaping up to be a long day on the bike. I’ve got to rack up a couple of 400km + weeks, and this week I’m well on track.

Stay tuned for an update mid-ride on Saturday. I’ll definitely be looking forward to a sleep in on Sunday..
