My mum died of CANCER – Please help me find a cure

Hi

My mother just before she found out she had Pancreatic cancer.

I have done it again!

I have agreed to spend 10 days slogging it out on my bike to raise money to find a Cure for Cancer in this years Tour de Cure.

Some of you will say I am stupid but I prefer to say passionate :-). I know that a lot of you have supported me in the past so I am writing today to see if you would help me in my goal to raise $15,000 for this cause this year?

This year is 20 years since my mother passed away from pancreatic cancer. I will never forget sitting in the hospital, holding her hand as she passed away, her frail body desecrated by CANCER and her spirit broken by the relentless barrage of chemotherapy and tests. She was 49, the same age as I am now!

Nobody should go through Cancer and nobody should watch their family members die from cancer. So I am writing to you today to see if you can help me with a goal I have held for the last 20 years:

To help find a cure for CANCER.

I was wondering if I told you that I was prepared to put my body through hell to earn your donation would you help?

Well, on the 28th of March this year, I will embark on the biggest challenge of my life.

I have committed to ride my bicycle 1576km from Sydney to Hobart in 10 days to raise money to do ground breaking Cancer research. This year I will ride in my 5th Tour de Cure event! (Click here for some more information on this years Tour de Cure)

Those of you that have known me for a while will know that I have done this before (Click here to see the video of last year’s event) but this year is different. This time not only will I be riding 1576km from Sydney to Hobart, but the organisers have a special twist.

On this year’s ride there are hills – sorry I meant MOUNTAINS! In fact on this year’s ride we will do the equivalent amount of climbing as scaling Mt Everest TWICE.

Here is the route:

The reason that I am writing this is to ask you to support me with a donation. Your donation will go directly to the researchers. To the clever people that are doing ground breaking research. Click here to have a look at some of the projects that we supported last year.

I am prepared to put my body through hell to make this ride possible, doing hours of training (Last week I rode 633km and spent 24 hours and 32 minutes on the bike!!)

Not only that but I gave up time normally spent with my family to help achieve this. With your help, my goal is that we can find a Cure for Cancer and we can both say that we have contributed to finding that cure.

I truly believe this is a worthwhile cause and as you can tell I am passionate about it.

PLEASE HELP any way you can. Your donation small or large will be greatly appreciated.

Also if you could help by spreading the word to your family, friends and business contacts though facebook, email or any other way, I would greatly appreciate it.

Make sure you have a look at my blog at www.mytourdecure.com.au/paule to see how my training is progressing.

Regards
Paul
