Day 3: Meningie to Bordertown

Today we rode 178km from Meningie to Bordertown … a long flat ride – 395m cliimbed all day! Normally TDC’s blessed with great weather – not this morning. We rode the first 50km in rain … and as my shoes filled with water the Lexus ahead looked ever more inviting! Fortunately we turned in land and the conditions improved; off with the rain jackets and arm warmers, on with sunscreen and sunnies. Nice. Great run into lunch as we punched out the KM’s on some flat smooth roads … basically just the way riding should be! Post lunch we headed down the Duke Highway; the passing trucks made the riding more challenging and the rough surface made some already delicate parts of the anatomy long for a break! We all made it through to the end, then it was recovery time – special drinks, some painful stretches and into the compression gear … not the best look but a big help in enabling us to back up with another 170km tomorrow. Great Tour so far and so much more to look fed to in the days ahead!
