Day 4: Bordertown to Horsham

4 down, 6 to go; the days are flying by faster than the kms! The days just get bigger – today we rode 173km from Bordertown to Horsham, tomorrow we ride the longest day of Tour – 215km. The already delicate delicate areas are going to be even delicate come this time tomorrow! Another great day on the bike with many special moments, beautiful scenery and a great team effort to get everyone through safely.

Today we had our first school visits; all are different, all are special … however the stand out had to be visiting the tiny town of Frances (population 30) and presenting our cancer awareness message to the 26 kids at the local school. The kids responded by singing their school song – one of those amazing tear in the eye, smile on the face experiences. Great kids, great teachers, great town. Good conditions and flat roads (!) meant we cranked up the speed a bit today; averaging over 33km/hr for a 175km ride is good going – esp as that’s now in excess of 575km in 4 days now.

The great news is that the money continues to roll in to TDC. So far we’ve raised in excess of $1.9m year to date – on track for our challenging target of $2.3m. Many, many thanks for your donations and messages of support … you’ve no idea how much these mean, and how much they will mean when we get into the mountain stages and a world of pain! For those still wishing to donate please do so by clicking the following link … in the mean time, it’s time for compression wear and sleep
