Day 1. Adelaide to Willunga Hill and Victor Harbour

Wow.  After a hectic last day in Sydney before tour, we are now on Tour and had a terrific ride south from Adelaide.  On the day before flying out – can you believe my tightener strap on my cycling shoe broke, my rear derailleur cable frayed and needed replacing, and a car ran into me on the way home.  I hope that these things come in threes and they are all done now.

Today was just a terrific day.  The whole tour team of almost 100, including all of the support crew, seems to get into a zone and everyone is just super positive about why we are doing this, and making sure we leave a positive memory for everyone we interact with.  Whether its our team mates, the kids and teachers at schools, or owners and staff at the businesses we visit on the way.  We handed a cheque for $5000 to the local SA branch of Cancer council for a current research project, and I think that helps makes it real for everyone the tangible and visible contribution that TDC is making.

Anna Meares joined us on the Sunrise set at Breakfast, and rode the first few Km’s with us.  We had a KOM challenge up old Willunga, and then rode into Victor Harbour this afternoon.   Just on 100km.

I’ve attached a couple of photos – with Anna, the set for Ch7 sunrise this morning, and the finish at Old Willunga.  Stay tuned.
