Three Peaks – was Smashed !!

You can do all the training that you want for any event but you can’t control the weather! This years Three Peaks ride really tested me because the weather was so hot. There was no respite from it, no cover and no cold water to help cool the body temperature! The ride started well enough, the decent from Falls creek went well, who wouldn’t have enjoyed 30km of downhill, especially …Read more

Three peaks

We spent all day today making our way to Falls creek. I do this ride each year to get ready for the Tour de Cure. It’s a good lead up because its HUGE. I am always afraid of this ride and use it as motivation to get out of bed in the mornings leading up to it. Now that its here though you always wonder if you have done enough!! …Read more

Ride Inside – You cant hide

Each week I normally go to an indoor session to supplement my road training. The reason that I do this is because its a totally different type of training, its one hour of on the limit, heart breaking, lay down when your finished training, something that is impossible to replicate on the road. When your training on the road you can put in the effort but you always get a …Read more

Rain Rain Rain Go away

The last two weeks has been pretty hard to get good quality training under my belt !! The rain just keeps on coming and riding and rain dont really mix. If you get wet on a ride then so be it but its not really great form to go out in the rain when you know that the rain is going to stay around. Its just asking to fall off. …Read more

Day of Inspiration

Each year Tour de Cure hold the Day of Inspiration in both Sydney and Brisbane. This year I was fortunate enough to attend the Brisbane Day of Inspiration where we heard some great speakers. Heres a picture of Petrea King one of the last speakers of the day.

New Bike!

I’m really excited today because I have just organised to pick up my new bike on Thursday. My current bike is a a Four year old Cannondale and is feeling a little tired. She has been much loved over the last four years but now it’s time to put her out to pasture. I am about to be Specialized!

Weekend Fun

Sometimes when you’re riding long distances the inevitable happens and you get a flat tyre. This weekend it was Rob’s turn but he soon found that he didn’t have the right tools for the job! He has got deep dish wheels but his spare tube had only short stems meaning they wouldn’t fit, Lucky one of the other riders had a spare tube that would fit!

300km this weekend – I’m Stuffed !

Feeling a bit second hand today because I had a big weekend on the bike. Saturday I did 135 km and then 168km on Sunday. I am starting to feel a bit better but after 300km in a weekend I am feeling a bit second hand!! Good thing that there is 12 weeks to go because doing that many km’s day after day for 10 days is what we do …Read more

100% humidity and I am wet through

When you are training you get to see all sorts of conditions, some days are hot, some are cold, some are clear and some not. This morning in Brisbane it was 100% humidity and foggy. I left home at the normal time (4.30am) and cycled into the city where I met another group of guys for a ride up Mt Cootha. About 10 minutes into the ride I was wet …Read more

Its a bit wet.

This weekend has been a write off so far and its not looking any good for tomorrow either. We are supposed to have over 200mm or rain over the next two days so its a good opportunity to have a break and get ready to hit it hard for next week. Here is the radar tonight, I dont think I will be riding tomorrow morning !!
