TDC Day 9 Launceston – Swansea

Team

Freezing start in Lauceston this morning after a great community dinner.

Today promised a 156km day with approximately 1500 vertical metres of climbing through the beautiful east coast of Tasmania. It was an epic day.

Tonight I am not really going to talk much about the riding, it was again another fantastic day on the bike. I will though mention the team time trial where Team CBA finished a fantastic 4th. I say fantastic as we were the smallest team but rode well as a unit, with no weak links and frankly on a handicap would have won easily given we finished only 10 seconds behind the winning team who had 8 very strong riders.

What was magical about today again was the way everyone worked together. The time trial was a great example of that..but also there were plenty of examples today where people put their bodies on the line for others. On the way into Swansea a long descent followed by a long section which was heavily affected by crosswinds. Many of the stronger guys rode in a group sheltering those who were suffering from the wind today to get them through.

It sounds trite but I think that allegorically that is the perfect example of what this Tour is all about. Riding this huge distance to not only raise funds , but crucially spread a very important message. Only as a united front can we beat cancer.

Tomorrow we ride to Hobart. It will be a great day.

This has been from start to finish an epic journey, which has been not only tough but humbling.

More importantly though some thank yous. Thank you to TdC for allowing me the privilege of riding this epic journey. Thank you to everyone who cheered, waved, supported and encouraged along the way. Thank you to everyone who showed their support at a community dinner.

Thank you to everyone who has donated and sent me messages of support and encouragement.

Thank you to my family. Each and every one of you has inspired me to do this crazy thing. I cannot wait to see you tomorrow. Lexie & Ava you will both get an extra big cuddle tomorrow.

Most of all though, thank you Tina. I could not have done this with out you.

I am , and will always be the Founder, President and CEO of the Tina Bradstreet fan club.

All my best, df
