Wild Weather …

Total Rides: 13

Total Distance: 781 km

Total Ascent: 9,922 m

Sydney, like most of coastal NSW, spent most of this weekend under a large low pressure area which brought some pretty wild weather. Heavy rain, strong winds and high humidity are not really conducive to training; whilst we need to get the rides in, we also need to stay safe. So my plans for a couple of solid rides this weekend ended up being revised to a couple of sessions on the home trainer. The trainer does the job and provides good continuous intensity, but it’s not quite the same as being on the road with your mates, being sledged by Ute drivers and having that recovery brekky and coffee afterwards.

Due to Sydney’s wet February weather the riding’s been a bit fragmented recently; quite a few short hills sessions but none of the longer rides that are needed to build endurance. Still, there’s time to put this right between now and April 26th and the weather does seem to be improving – looks like there’s going to be a lot of riding in the next few weeks! The pictures below were taken during a quick session I managed to get in on the Mosman Hills last week – the weather wasn’t great, but having got up at 0420 I was determined to ride somewhere!

Whilst the riding has been a bit frustrating the fundraising is ticking along nicely. My total has just broken through $7k which is good going – many thanks to all who’ve supported to date. I still have another $5k to go so if you wish to donate please click the relevant tab above. We’re doing another fundraising session down at Manly Wharf on Saturday afternoon, so feel free to come down to say hello and show your support.
