Mid January already!!

Noosa Jan12 kids

Family time

Have just arrived back home from a lovely 8 nights on a family break, in one of my favourite places  – Noosa.  Luckily the cycling up there is awesome, and it is always nice to get out on a few new routes (that’s just to get the Strava cup count up really!!).

Managed to put in 374km of training in the week up to last Sunday, and a few of those rides were solo (with lots of wind too).

Had a great ride on Sunday with a bunch of my LBB buddies (for those not in the know – LBB is an acronym for Life Behind Bars.  Mainly handle bars, drinking bars, and hopefully never the jail type bars!!!).  We managed to rack up 138km of cycling from Mooloolaba, south to Caloundra (following the coast line, including some amazing scenery), north to Coolum where we had a refreshment stop at the 74km mark.  We then headed all the way north to Noosa, and then back south to Mooloolaba (into a nice headwind). Mooloolaba Jan12

When we stopped Waz headed off for a half hour run (crazy bugger!), as he is in training for his first Ironman in June this year!  It was then swim time, and off for a lovely drink and lunch stop in one of the cafes. It really was an awesome day all round.

It is great to see all your kilometres adding up on Strava.  My knee has been feeling pretty darn good, so I am hopeful this will continue for the duration.  Off to see the physio again on Friday for a session.  Last time he did some dry needling in my quads just above the knee.  He did warn me that it was going to be very painful, and he was not exaggerating!! I do think that this helped though.

Aiming for 1,400km  for the month of January, just for the challenge!!  It’s funny when you set a target like that, knowing that when we are on Tour we will be doing almost 1,600km in 10 days!!

A very wet ride - rather dirty!
