Day 9 Signature Tour

Launceston to Swansea 155km 1490m climbing over 5hr 47min riding time.

Well today was another lumpy day.  It was a day of feeling great one minute and then diving and losing energy the next.  This was not made much easier by the Team Time Trial at the 47km mark.  Just quietly, I am very glad for the road works which cut it down from a 16km event to only 7km.  Naomi and I were both feeling weary today, so held up our very fast and capable boys.

Lake Leake lunch stop

There was an old crop duster which did a pass straight over us.  This was very close over head, and very cool.  Sunrise crew organised for them to do flyovers so we could get some great footage.  Awesome!!

The day held awesome scenery yet again.  Launceston is rather beautiful, and descending down into Swansea afforded us an amazing view of the bay below.  We also had lunch at very spectacular spot on the banks of Lake Leake.

We had an escort into town by the local rural fire brigade.  Felt very special!! Tonight’s dinner was under a marquis on the local oval, and was graciously funded by the local community (in full, which is very generous for well over 100 people).

I went out on the dock after dinner and looked at the very clear sky with all the tinkling stars. I reflected on how very lucky I am to be here, and what an awesome trip this has been.  I am very sad that the last ride day is tomorrow.  The team are an amazing bunch and amy not looking forward to departing their company on Monday morning.

Thus far there have been 1.500km covered and 21,100metres of climbing, and I still have one day to go.  WOW!!!  Be sure to check out the News/Gallery on the Tour de Cure website.  If you have not donated as yet, you can just search for me on this website and follow the links.
