January is almost over!

It is hard to believe that January is almost over.  My goal of 1,500 kilometres of training this month is on track (just need to cycle 138km over Thursday and Friday!!).

We had an awesome ride yesterday with the full south east Queensland contingent of myself, Paul Egan, Peter Oost, Cory Morris, Daren Armstrong, David Helliwell, Martyn Ellis (guest rider) and Michael Rapkins (support).TdC Assessment 27Jan It was a good climbing ride, and we finished off with brunch at Pete’s place in the country.

There has been a bit of wet weather around of late, which is to be expected in Brisbane at this time of the year.  I mostly still try to get out riding in it as we don’t get to choose perfect weather on Tour.  However, I did get on the wind trainer the other day as I was feeling like a sleep in that morning, so the wind trainer was punishment for being lazy!!Trainer  As you can imagine, getting up at least five or six mornings per week at 4.30am, and then cycling for two (up to five) hours, you start to feel it.  Backing up and getting back on the bike for ten straight days is one of the challenges for every rider on Tour.

Last week was 419 kilometres and 4,369 metres elevation.  That is what’s referred to as a “Strength Climbing ” week!  And the reason I am climbing all of those hills is not only for the view at the top, but check out the elevation data!!! That is LOTS of elevation.Elevations
