Week 6 of 24 Training and Fundraising Update
A tough week of training this week, the legs starting to feel the impact of the extra load. The good news is that the training is working. The power output for my Watt Bike session is improving each week which is a great feeling.
This morning’s ride with fellow TDC rider Owen Barnett was awesome, despite the 5am start on a Sunday. Didn’t quite get my nutrition right and found myself in a spot of bother, thank goodness for Gu Gel’s, an instant hit that helped finish the ride strongly. The weather at last was spectacular, which can be seen in this photo from Stanwell Tops.
Note the new Vittoria TDC kit kindly given to me by the TDC team. It was great to get out in the gear, it seemed to make it even more real.
A total of 368km for the week, a little over a quarter of what we will do in the first 7 days of the tour. Thankfully there is still 18 weeks to increase the workload so that the legs can get used to backing up each day.
Fundraising this week has been focused on corporate opportunities, some interest being shown by a couple of household names that will be great to have as part of my support group. Hope to be able to advise of their participation in the next couple of weeks.
Unfortunately this week there has been news of another friend impacted by cancer. This news, and the fact that my father had his 5th dose of Chemo during the week, makes the purpose and need for the TDC so clear and important.
Cheers
