Week 7 Training and Fundraising Update

Hard to believe that 7 weeks have already passed since I started out on my Tour de Cure journey. This week has been the toughest so far, having to mix my biggest training week so far with a couple of late night functions, making backing up hard.

On Thursday night I auctioned a Wallabies jersey with all proceeds going to my tally, which after getting $1,100 for the jersey, has now passed $18,000. It’s been amazing talking to people about the tour and hearing how relevant the cause is to so many people.

It was inspiring to spend Friday night at a Tour de Cure function that celebrated the 2013 Signature tour and the achievements of the people involved. Congratulations to my training partner, Owen Barnett, who was recognised for being a member of the $100k Club (those that have raised more than $100k in donations) and also the Margaret Mead Award for his contribution to the tour.

We also got to view the Channel 7 special that followed the 2013 tour. Unfortunately it just made me more excited and eager to be a part of the TDC family. Look out for the special that airs on Channel 7 on the 1st January.

A total of 378kms training this week, which brings the total for the first 7 weeks to 2,289kms. Next week is an easier schedule with an extra rest day and a massage to get the body loosened up a bit, will be painful but worth it, I hope 🙂
