Week 8 of 24 Training and Fundraising Update
Another week has passed so quickly. We received our 16 week training programs from TDC this week. Thankfully I’m a little ahead of the plan and hope to continue to build on the work that has been done over the last 8 weeks.
This week was a recovery week and a total of 270km, inlcuding an extra day off, which came at a very handy time. The late nights and early starts of last week had started to catch up with me.
I’ve mentioned in previous posts the great work that Nuri is doing to assist me, including a fantastic personal donation and donations from his friends. This week I have a photo of the promotion he is doing at his shop. The latest promotion is $1 from every lunch box sold.
This week my father was back in hospital for his next dose of Chemo. It has been a difficult week post the treatment, his blood counts have taken a few extra days to come down to normal and now he has the flu, putting him in isolation. During a visit on Thursday he introduced me to Cecil Rayner, who had just found out that there was little doctors could do for him as his cancer that originated in his arm had spread to his stomach in multiple tumors.Cecil was in reasonable spirits given the news, which really puts your own life into stark reality. Here I was feeling flat due to heavy legs and tiredness!!!! I feel for him and his family and wish them all the best over the coming difficult period.
Fundraising is up to $18,500. I’m hoping to push past the $20,000 mark before Xmas and head into the new year with some new ideas to knock down the updated $30,000 target before the tour.
My TDC training buddy Owen had his first Watt Bike session this week, below is the proof. Note that I’m smiling as I had just finished and Owen was just starting, harsh but fair 🙂
