Week 9 of 24 Training and Fundraising Update
Another milestone ticked off this week as my fundraising went past $19,000 (pending a deposit made on Friday being applied to my tally).
I’m hopeful some corporate donors that have indicated they will contribute will come through this week prior to my annual leave commencing. As of Tuesday afternoon I have 26 days off work, and only needed to take 10 annual leave days to get it, woohoo.
Training this week was a ‘hard’ week and clocked up 338kms. Enjoyed getting back to racing on Friday night after 6 weeks without it due to Xmas functions and the weather. The race was fast but a little two paced which was difficult to adjust to but great fun in the end. A touch of handle bars in the home straight was a bit scary but thankfully no damage done.
Hard to believe that on Wednesday this coming week it will be only 100 days to the Tour, so much training to do in that time but loving every minute of it at the moment. Feeling stronger each week and keen to get into some of the longer rides over the next few weeks.
The body is holding up to the training, although a massage during the week from Dundee was more than a little painful. Note to self, do your stretches and use the roller/tennis ball. A nagging hip flexor pain when trying to sleep is the only niggle I’m managing.
Expect to do over 400kms this week 🙂
