Day 4 | Bowen to Mission Beach | 450kms (in a car)

Day 4 was a rest day although I would have preferred to ride!! It was tough sitting in the back of a car for the day. We transferred from Bowen to Mission Beach to continue our journey to Cairns,as the section of road between these towns is not safe to ride.

We started the day with Breakfast at Bowen Jetty and another Sunrise cross. Clint presented a cheque for $25,000 to Tour de Cure on air while about 100 local school kids rode their bikes with our riders.

After breakfast we all went to 3 local schools in Bowen to share our Be Fit, Be Healthy, Be Happy message. My group attended St Mary’s Catholic School. The kids had made up posters for all of us to encourage us all on our journey north. After the presentation we all jumped on buses and into cars for the 450 km trip to Mission Beach.

Lunch and another school visit. Townsville Grammar School this time before we continued or drive north. Three buses and about a dozen cars popped into the Frosty Mango for a quick ice cream in the afternoon and then it was on to Mission Beach.

We had dinner and stayed at Castaway Resort. Early bed now in preparation for our biggest stage of the tour tomorrow……..170kms and 2100 metres of climbing! We will be hurting by the end of the day!
