Day 8 | Cape Tribulation to Port Douglas | 121kms

We rolled out of Cape Tribulation after having breakfast on the beach while they filmed Sunrise. Back through the stunning rainforest and once again crossed the Daintree River on the car ferry. Just as beautiful as yesterday! You can see the stunning canopy covered road in my photos from yesterday.

We then headed to the Upper Daintree for morning tea. Lots of crocodile tour boats in the river. Some of the team spotted a croc but it swum away before we could find it.

We jumped back on the bikes and pushed into a massive headwind. Toughest of the tour! The engine room worked extremely hard to pull the bunch along. My average power for the day was considerably higher than any other day on tour. I was knackered by the time we got home.

After what was a long and tough stretch we rode up to Mossman Gorge. Unfortunately our fantastic lead and rear car team was not able to join us as we rode up into the gorge itself. The ride took us through the rainforest and along an elevated walkway. We all jumped off and had a very refreshing swim in the water. You can see from my pictures it was just very cool!!

We then rode the final stretch, feeling very refreshed, into Port Douglas. We stayed at the Sheraton Mirage which was a very nice change from the backpacker style accommodation from the previous night. So many contrasting experiences on tour, which is one of the many things that make it so special.

Last day tomorrow!!
