Week 16 of 24 Training and Fundraising Update

Another passes and now we are just 8 weeks away from Tour, and we can now say that it is next month, wow.

A moderate week for training this week, a total of 387kms and 6,953 of ascent metres. A good result at racing on Friday, despite the intense pace and constant attacks by those with far younger legs. Today was 5 hours in the saddle and lots of climbing. Unfortunately I didn’t manage my nutrition as well as expected which resulted in a food bonk on the last climb at 4 hours 30 mins, making it rather uncomfortable. Note to self – eat more and more regularly!

Now that there is only 8 weeks to go its time to come up with some new ideas for fundraising. So as you can see below I’ve done a photo with one of the major TDC sponsors products (doesn’t it look nice and clean), which is going to be part of a fundraiser, will let you know in future blogs how it goes.

This week I received the awesome news that Coke a Cola will not only be taking up a Bronze corporate donation of $2,500 but have also agreed to supply product for the tour. This is an amazing contribution and will be very much appreciated by all riders, support, service and guest riders when we are off the bike and refueling. Thanks Frank for organising this contribution, really appreciate the support.

So my fundraising total has now reached $26,505 and hope with a few of my corporate promises coming in this week it could be $30,000 by my next blog.

The next 7 days will ramp up a little more. I expect to do over 400km for the week, including a 6 hour ride next Sunday which will be the same as today’s ride with the addition of ‘The Wall’ which if you have read previous blogs you will know this is a beast of a claim that starts for the first 500m at 20%.

Have a great week 🙂
