Week 17 of 24 Training and Fundraising Update

This week saw the count down fall below 50 days. We now have only 7 weeks to prepare which is really bringing a focus to training and fundraising.

A relatively slow week for fundraising, although another milestone as my tally went past, even if it is only just, $27,000. The great news is that I have promises for a further $3,000 which will take my tally to an incredible $30,000.

My participation at the University of Sydney Union’s O-Week was originally going to be limited to a full day of riding on Wednesday 26th February. However due to circumstances I will now also be running a stall on Thursday and Friday which will be a great opportunity to spread the word and raise more funds.

Training this week went up another level, with today’s ride being a 6 hour slog including lots of hills. To give you an idea of the nutrition required for such a ride, today I went through 5 bidons (3750ml) of fluids, 2 of water and 3 of electrolyte drinks, 3 powerbars for carbs and 3 Gu gels for glucose. Despite all the food and drink, I still managed to be 2kgs lighter when I got home!

A total of 473km for the week and 8,430 of burnt calories. I am going to enjoy the ice cream tonight 🙂

Have a great week, cheers Woody
