Week 22 of 24 Training and Fundraising Update

On Friday I was very fortunate to receive a donation from Learning Partners who conduct a number of on the job training courses for our staff. A great thing about having Learning Partners on the team is that they are based in Launceston. They have organised for their staff to attend the community dinner when we arrive in ‘Lonnie’ which will be a fantastic chance to catch up and share the experience.

Below is a picture of Sue and Jonathan presenting me with their donation, which has taken my total to just short of $36,000 (unbelievable):

Due to some signs of fatigue in my training data the past week of riding was amended to ensure we didn’t over cook before reaching the tour. A reduced volume of 347kms for the week and a few less hills as well. I’ve reached the end of the week feeling a lot fresher and ready for the taper over the next 12 days.

This week is time to get the bike ready, which based on the list of instructions from the head mechanic on tour could require every bit of the two days that the bike is scheduled to be with the boys of Endeavour Cycles. Luckily I had a birthday recently and have some vouchers to manage the cost. By the sound of my chain this week it is good timing, it sounds like it is on its last legs.

Only 12 days to go so it’s time to get the final donations organised and start to think about what will be required for the trip. I feel lots of stretching coming on this week and the start of the nerves starting to kick in and some easier riding just for good measure.

Cheers

Woody
