Day 5 | Iverloch to Port Melbourne | 167km

What a day! It started off with a magical sunrise over Victoria’s stunning Bass Strait, closely followed by an encounter with a big kangaroo and a photo of Team Westpac!

News of Eric Bana joining tour had spread like wildfire and our team was noticeably more spruced up this morning. There was lippy. There was mascara. And that was just the men!

Being a celebrity in my own lounge room, I joined the dream team in peloton 4. Ex-rower and Olympic champion, Drew Ginn. Ex-professional cyclist, Jens Voigt. Sunrise presenter Mark Beretta. Movie star Eric Bana. And me!

I think everyone was too intimidated to ask for a selfie but once Mr Bana heard about my EPIC crash on Day 1…….

A mere 167km from Inverloch to Port Melbourne, the second longest leg on the tour.

The first 53 km was pretty hilly, so we stopped for morning tea at Cape Horn Lookout. The muscles (& backside) were feeling pretty sore so I was glad that the rest of the way was pretty flat.

We arrived in Melbourne to a lovely reception from supporters far & wide.

We now waiting patiently for the ferry. And I can see the Spirit of Tasmania waiting patiently. The sun is shining and the sea is looking pretty calm, so fingers crossed for a smooth sailing across Bass Strait tonight.

After all, there’s a stationary bike challenge on board the ship and I’m determined to thrash Jens ‘Shut up Legs’ Voigt. Do you fancy my chances? He’s hardly drawn breath in the peloton. In fact, I don’t think he’s even broken a sweat……hopefully the sea will be his undoing…..
