8 weeks to go!
8 weeks to go
Not long now! Yes 2 months and I will be on that road from Adelaide to Canberra. Time has gone by so fast over the training and fundraising time since I received my email to say I have been selected on the Tour de Cure Signature squad. Oh my, what have I got myself in for……??
I am really not sure? A huge physical and emotional journey! It’s all of 10 whole days of riding without a rest day, away from family and friends. I see it as very little in relation to those going through Cancer and the suffering involved. It’s not just the physical pain but the mental and emotional pain as well. It is an epic journey that starts well before the ride itself.
Some days I really don’t feel like training or challenges in fundraising. But I make myself motor on and a little angel going through Chemo now is giving me energy and perseverance. I gather if she can go through the pain suffering and having to upshift towns and normal life then I can get my butt on the seat and stop complaining. Then I breakthrough and someone out of the blue gives me a generous donation and I just feel so blessed. It’s giving hope to those people.
It is also about educating the kids we are raising and getting them to think about being healthy, fit and happy. I love it and hope that I can pass on some of my enthusiasm to the kids of today. Life is too short and sometimes it is the small things in life.
So I am riding now approx. 500km a week in preparation which is from Bowen to Townsville return and a little more. Yes it’s hard some days but I get through it. It’s been all about time management and balance, some days better than others.
I have raised $8,381.40 to date so 69% there and just a little way to go.
Thanks for all your support,
Love Nomes xx
