About Me

I’m a community minded, self-employed mum of two, and that’s just for starters!  Some people might say I’m crazy, but I just tell them I’m unique.  The truth is I love helping people, plain and simple.

I’ve set a personal challenge for myself to make a difference and support finding a cure for cancer.  My challenge is the epic Signature Tour from Sydney-to-Hobart.  This challenge will see me cycle nearly 1600km through the hills with over 1900 meters of climbing….you heard right, 1900 meters of climbing.

My motivation is helping raise enough funds so that you and I can help researchers find a cure for those who are fighting that unforgiving disease known as Cancer.

I’m from Northern/Central Queensland and my riding has made me as familiar with the Bruce Highway as anyone.  In preparation for the Tour de Cure, I’ve been riding 300km to 400km a week for training.  So you can see that I’m serious about beating Cancer!!!

This year’s challenge is by far my toughest challenge yet.  In the past, for my own personal achievement, I competed in half Ironman’s and Marathons.  The Tour de Cure is an opportunity and a privilege for me to do something for others.  “One of my goals is to set a good example for my beloved country of Australia and my loving family as well.”

And really, no matter how small your community, we can all make a difference that counts. My challenge pales in comparison to those challenges facing so many young children and also adults, once they discover they’ve been diagnosed with Cancer.  Their challenge is 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

What a blessing it is for me, having this undeserved privilege to be a part of such an important, life changing cause.  I want to freely give to those in need when the opportunity is there.

One of the wonderful things about this event is that it’s an amazing community event which shows how truly amazing and caring the communities of Australia really are.  The team I’ve joined for this event has a clear vision that will inspire the Australian community, raise awareness about Cancer and help cure Cancer by funding vital research support and prevention projects.

As the kilometers pass behind me I know in my heart that I’m setting an example for my two children to follow.  Though they’re young at ages eight and the other one, they’ll be proud of their mum.

Now that we’re at the dawning of the 2014 Signature Tour, my fellow teammates and I will happily share our “Be Fit, Be Healthy, Be Happy”  Cancer awareness message with over 7500 men, women and children across the communities that we are so fortunate to visit with.

A vital defense against Cancer is healthy eating habits and a healthy lifestyle.  These habits are vital for Cancer prevention and that is part of the message we want to share.

Our 10 day challenge will kick off from Sydney on March 28th and winds up in Hobart on may 6th.   Faith, hope and determination are our only defense against the cold conditions and steep altitudes of up to 1900 meters.

However, the determination of those individuals who are battling Cancer is far more grueling event.  My hope is that this ride will honor their battle and give them strength to believe that they can win.

What makes this journey so special for me is that I have the privilege to share my hope and motivated belief in my cause, with all those that I meet during these 10 days.

There is a saying among all of the Tour de Cancer participants: “You can’t choose when you have Cancer, so we ride on together, no matter what.”  On this journey we are a focused team that’s going to make a difference because of this incredible experience.

Please, if we’re to achieve our fundraising goal of $20,000.00, we will need generous personal donations and corporate sponsorship.  Patients and researchers alike are depending on all of us to donate our time, our energy and whatever financial gifts that you can afford.
