Day 5,6,7 & 8

Himage image imageDay 5,6,7 & 8

It certainly has been a roller-coaster of days over the last few days,

Day 5 was a very easy day with some of us taking shots after a school visit (which is my favourite) . Then riding around getting footage of Penola. It was a very cold day. We had lunch at a beautiful winery and everyone was exsuated and cold. It was an easy day but the body was still tired and cold.

Day 6 was our biggest day & we knocked out 220km over the day. I was a little easier as we only had a few showers and wind was down from 30-35kmm hour. Rolling hills and working together as a team. The highlights of tour. I was still sore and cold and my di2 came loose again, without gears for a short time was hard.

Day 7 was the best day & worst day so far on tour this year! We saw amazing scenery and the 9 left of the 12 apostles. It was magnificent. Then, One of my biggest nightmares. Yes I came down on the bike. Heading down a decent at a very high speed and crash in front of me which took me out too. I looked after one of my friends who fell, while others around controlled the traffic and pain. It was like slow motion & happened so quickly. Once the Drs arrived we were sent to climb the hill of 13km climb. After not being able to shift gears I was determined to hit the hill in the hardest ring on the back but luckily the small on the front. I spent most of the time out of the saddle. My hand really hurt from the fall and I was upset to see my friends hurt. Tim & Simon Kept an eye on me up the hill and I stood and peddled. I was determined to finish it for those reasons I am riding for and my supports. That’s when the pain got worse & I found my hand and wrist in more pain. I rode on after a splint was supporting my hand. I figure it is really nothing as opposed the pain and suffering people go through in & around cancer. It was a tough call and scared with the wet slippery roads as well as descents the lasted many many km. I was exsuated but Jens was the one who cared for me on these dark windy descents. Wow How blessed am I. I was glad to get in from this most memorable day. The gods were with us as it wasn’t as bad as it could have been.

Day 8 -woke up sore but ready to concur my fears. Yes everyone has them. Got back on the bike again & rode with a casted hand. It was a big day with amazing scenery down the great ocean road. Others helped me & I helped them also. That’s what life should be all about! The day went fast, rushed & just made it to Geelong in time for quick catch-up before dinner. I was great to get in. we all got a beautiful book and caught up with the Joan & David Beretta which was beautiful. I am very sore & tired tonight. But the pain is really nothing. The fear is also nothing as opposed to what families go through with cancer. We get to hear the stories & see the evidence. Can we kick this thing? Yes we can!!

Sorry these blogs are late. So many early mornings or unavailability to laptop or other things got in the way. Not to say I don’t appreciate you all and miss you like crazy. Can’t wait to get home! Thank you so much for the support! I Love you all

I have more stories to share although I need some sleep
