Ready to Roll

I am ready to Roll! Yes I know it’s the first blog email you have received and as you can imagine I just couldn’t get spare time and energy to sit down and write a blog without someone wanting something or feeling the need to do something more important.

This year has been a crazy year and started off very unfit and unwell after the fall last year. I had to pull in some extra motivation and friends to keep me going. I am so lucky to have so many great people in my life to make this and other important community work possible.

I really need to thank my family – Owen and my amazing children for giving up time to train and fundraise for Cancer. Also Ali for helping so much with the kids – I will miss you so much !!

I want to thank the Rollacoaster Ride Committee – Nan & Kris Hansen & Russ and Therese Mayhew & Owen – I couldn’t fundraise to the level I do without you.

Peta, Jackie, Judy, Jayne, and All the people who helped out at our Cents sale… I couldn’t do it without you guys x

Thank you all the local businesses who donated items – Hickmott Supa News, Burnups, Bowen Home Hardware, Ruddy, Tomlins & Baxter Staff You all Rock. Bowen Meat supplies are legends too with a meat packs. Look Good Feel Good, Kerry from Indulgence, Jochhiems and so so many more……….

I want to thank Reef Safari and Cruise Whitsunday for a great Raffle we have going currently and a framed signed Cowboys jersey(thanks to my amazing parents for framing it for me). You guys are so giving and I appreciate your generosity. Tickets Still on sale at Byte-Wise IT Solutions.

I want to thank Leanne and Wayne born for supporting me every year. Pringview Management, Bowen Automotive, Maree & Nev Jones, Barefoot Real Estate, Skyview Units and all my other amazing friends and family for making a Huge difference.

Thank you to my beautiful friends for your support in money and other ways.

As you know it takes a lot to get to tour. As a mother, business person, coach and many other roles to fit in every day it can get tiring. Then on top of that you have training and fundraising. I sleep when I can wake up between 4-5 am to fit it all in and just push through when I am tired and it seems all too much. These are sacrifices with family and friends I make along the way as I am so passionate about this cause as I know you are too. It has been hard and times you just want to give up or in but I know I can’t. We can make a difference. Those long rides and Hangries every now and then. Less time with my children that I hoped for and less sleep that I enjoy so much. It’s all worth it in the end.

So many people close to me effected by cancer. Such a hard disease to deal with in so many ways.

You gave.  You donated.  You showed that you care.

The pain of pedalling and riding for hours upon hours gives me a quiet confidence, a portable tranquillity, because I know you’re there, you’re helping, you’re making this dream come true.  It’s my privilege to ride these 1540 Km’s over 10 days, because this ride is unlike any other ride in the world…this ride allows cancer patients to see that you understand and that you want to help.  Together we’re going to defeat this disease, this enemy that takes away our loved ones.

If you could see the bright, hope filled eyes of these brave and long suffering souls who know that their chance for life depends on donations from the kindness of good hearted folks like you.

These cancer patients are so special, so loving, and so positive, it’s with a quiet confidence that they reassure and inspire all of us.

So I am heading off this Friday morning as Team leader of ADGE Hotel Team as TEAM LEADER which is a real privilege and honour. Our Team motto is to help others always and it’s not about winning but making sure we all get through safe and sound with a little fun on the way…….

So watch this space team leader news to follow and more communities and children to educate on the Be Fit, Be Healthy & Be Happy.

Thanks so Much Leah McDonald for the amazing Fruit cakes read to Auction.

10 Year Tour De Cure Ride, we are ready to face the mammoth challenge and ride those hills..

My deepest hope is that this tour will raise the awareness of the need to fight cancer.  Together, we will eliminate this unforgiving disease once and for all.
