Day 6 Tough Day

Day 6: Bendigo to Benalla

Distance: 195km

Total Ascent: 394m

Tour de Cure passed a huge benchmark of raising over $10million since its  started.

We also finished 1000km mark after the first 6 days – a huge effort by all riders and support crew.  We  were uplifted by the energy with the Sunrise crew at Camp Hill Primary School in Bendigo. It is freezing here with not much relief and we haven’t even got to the hills…… Huge day and lots of tired bodys pushing through the pain.Rolling out in the cold of the morning, the pace and the banter in the  bunch warmed us before a visit to Colbinabbin Primary School where we were greeted by some very talkativekids.

We then hit hard a team time trial over 16kms and many pushed it hard as they could including myself. We quickly had smoko and then hot the road for another 79km before lunch. It was tough, the wind was blowing us around and everyone was tired. It felt like it lasted forever and looking forward to jsut stopping.

Lunch was late as we rolled in later in the arvo. Tired body’s with a break just to eat & refuel. It was a tough day and we got there, a little lost many times but glad to get home for a warm shower and another community dinner.

This was the down day with many feeling the exhastion through the body’s with little time to rest. I guess this was my lowest day on tour so looking forward to the next amazing 4 days ahead. Bed earliest ever at 10pm! Didn’t even need help falling asleep!!!
