Preparation for Tour 2013
Where has the time gone? I can’t believe it’s 11 days until I start riding in this year’s tour! Wow I bet you feel the same. We lead such busy lives and seem to squash what we can into our days/ weeks/ months.
I have had so much sad news with Cancer this year but most has been treated and cured and others is in progress. The generosity of people has blown me away and a little friend of mine did something very special. She is 11 years old and won the dash for cash and donated it to the Tour de Cure as she said “I live a good life, this will help someone else.” How special. I think it is amazing that generosity and giving people still have instilled in them is still growing strong.
It has been a tough lead up to Tour this year. Training and back to work, as well as juggling the other hats but get there in the end. Riding 300-600km per week starting at 3.30am in the morning some mornings to get it done. But that is what we do and make sacrifices along the way to make sure our fundraising and training is at a high standard. Don’t get me wrong some days are a real struggle and I have had a few of those sorting our some little health drawbacks, but won’t let that STOP me ! Trying to fit it all in has been an interesting juggle, we get there in the end.
I had a mishap with my bike a couple of weeks ago and let’s say got the Muppet award for breaking my bike. I now am in the process of organising a new one and hoping it’s won’t take long to break in. Not optimal to ride a new bike 1600km without a few rides to get used to it. The bike will be fitted a day before tour so watch this space to see it and how it goes!!
Fundraising is going well with donations, Aqua classes, Cycling at supermarkets and spreading the word as well as some corporate packages. The last one is this weekend which is new to us all being a Cents Sale, Exciting watching the progress of this unfold.
11 days to go and packing to be done, with a taper riding and cross training. I will be enjoying the family and friends time as well as getting organised at work to get away. I will miss Tyrone and Isabella for 2 weeks. That will be tough!! The hugs, wrestling, chilling and chats. I hope they understand and one day try to make a difference.
I apologise for the late blog so close to tour. So much to do !!
I will keep you posted over the tour and fill you in on our progress.
Love you all
