Week 3 of 20 Training and Fundraising Update

The last two weeks have been fairly hectic with work functions, some good training and most important fund raising, more about that shortly.

Having finished work this week for a few weeks the real training is about to get serious. The training log for the coming two weeks has some interesting (and by interesting you can translate that to mean challenging, and by challenging you can read that as ‘bloody hard’) rides. If you read my blog this time last year you will recall me mentioning ‘The Wall’, well its back on the program next week, which means the pain is about to commence. The Wall starts at over 20% incline and just keeps going up with little respite until the top.

This week has been the best week of training since that day in July, the legs are feeling stronger and it seems the fitness is progressing. After reading about the Mt Hotham and Falls Creek climbs this week, I have to say that I was a little spooked by the challenge, but I’m up for it nonetheless.

In the past two weeks I have been fortunate enough to secure 5 corporate donations totaling $17,500 which will appear in my tally in January. The meeting I mentioned in my last blog was a cracker. The plans for the New Year are huge and there is a real possibility that they could bring in a number of corporate and personal donations, as much as $30,000.

There are more plans over the coming months to kick things along so the target is still in play, which is awesome.

It was great to also be able to deliver the framed jerseys to my corporate donators for the 2014 tour in the past two weeks. The response was great and certainly helped secure donations for 2015. I have a presentation to a staff forum at the end of January for another donator who are looking to make Tour De Cure their charity partner for 2015, no pressure, better be on my game that day!

Till next week.

Cheers

Woody
