Week 5 of 20 Fundraising and Training Update

Well the Xmas season is done and the new year has rolled over as well. I hope everyone has been enjoying the festive season. For those training hopefully not too much over indulging. It’s been great to see a number of TDC riders getting in some big rides this past couple of weeks.

Not much to say about fund raising over the past two weeks, I thought I better let everyone have some respite during the festive period :). It will be full steam ahead when I get back to work on the 15th January.

On the other hand, the training has really gone up a notch. This past week has been a total of 448km and 5,270m of climbing. Todays ‘double dipper’ ride was especially tough, but great training for 3Peaks and TDC. Jenny thought it would be fun to do 6 of the Shire’s best climbs (including the Wall) and put them together in three pairs for extra fun. Add in some heat, 32 degrees, and the fact that my training buddy was hit with a bug, and it was a hot solo 4 hours of pain. The best part was being able to try out the new compact crankset, which certainly made a difference on the Wall and over the whole 4 hours as well. The legs felt a lot better at the top of each climb and the cadence was much higher for each climb.

Another week off work this week so more good rides to build on the good work of the past couple of weeks. The weight is coming down nicely, 5kgs since the end of November and almost back to pre-accident levels. Another month or so and hopefully I will be at race weight, ready for 3Peaks, which is a scary 8 weeks away.

Till next week.

Cheers

Woody
