Day 10 end of tour

I have been putting off writing about the last day on tour. Purely because in a funny weird kind of way you never want it to end. The day just flies past as you reflect and go over the last nine months of fundraising, training and now riding. The school visits, kids, messages and stories we share. The amazing people we meet that have found breakthroughs with such a passion. The Awsome Tour de Cure team that make it all happen And run. Mark Beretta and his fabulous film crew Trent & his cool Dad, Petchy & team. The support crew that make our job safe and so much easier. Cooks that provide Awsome food. Massage physios, social media crew, photographers, and especially mechanics.

Then reflect on why we are doing it and what a huge impact it will make on many peoples lives in the future. I wish I had a magic wand, I would save the world. As I don’t have one so I am doing what I can to help. My heart is opened to those in need and even though I have had hard times I know I didn’t want anyone to have to go through loading a loved one.

I then reflect on my community, supporters and people who have donated. You guys are Awsome!!! I couldn’t and wouldn’t have made it without you. You know you all have a special place in my heart! Thank you xxxoo

So rolling into town was intense and the reception of people was amazing!! A few tears and loads of hugs which I love…. Many great memories of amazing people who are life long friends. It was a tough ride but nothing as apposed to what a cancer patient goes through every day. Matilda has given me strength and courage. If a 1 year old can go though treatment with a beautiful smile on her face so can I ride the toughest tour with a smile on mine. Minus a few tears of course.

So after an emotional arrival we celebrated the finish. It was lovely. Many people stood out on tour for me and the jersey winners for tour was very much deserving. It made me teary to think about these inspiring people.
The next day the body was tired but sad to say goodbye to everyone.

I now have a few days to reflect and look around Hobart before heading home. Now body needs to recover and get some sleep as well as focus back on work and family.

I love being a part of the tour de cure family and look forward to riding together in the future, educating our younger generation about being fit happy & healthy. And finding a cure for cancer.

Stats of our tour
1,650k ridden x 65 riders = 107,250k or 2.6 times round the world.

22,200m of vertical climbing x 65 riders = 1,443,000 *or 163 times Mt Everest.

Calories burned by me alone = 40,419 or 82 Big Macs..

Time on the bike by me alone = 3,819 mins or approx 64 hours

Tour presented to 5,000+ children in schools, explaining the Be Fit, Be Healthy Be Happy message.

I hope you will support me again to make this world a better place!
